Rock HIll Central City Optimist Club

Our Story...

The Rock Hill Central City Optimist Club is an all-volunteer civic organization. We are one of more than 3,400 Optimist Clubs throughout the world. Our focus is on the Rock Hill area, having served our community for more than 35 years. Each year our Club sponsors and participates in programs and activities that benefit more than 1,000 Rock Hill and York County young people!
Our Club sponsors academic and community activities designed to give community youth a better chance to succeed in today's world. Whether it is a scholarship to help students attend college, mentoring students toward success in school and life, participating in the annual Special Olympics, Africa Alive, or Rolling in Rock Hill Home Painting Program, and Teacher Appreciation Day, honoring students monthly and educators quarterly.
Although we have many projects and do a lot of community service work, we are not "all work and no play". Our breakfast meetings and other Social functions are an important part of our organization and we encourage participation by all members. The Program Committee is one of our important standing committees and is responsible for arranging for a guest speaker at each meeting, and our annual dues of $180.00 cover the meal costs. Social gatherings include the Annual Meeting and the Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner.
Our sole fundraiser is the Central City Optimist Club Golf Tournament, which is a real community event. Most of our members participate and many of the participants are friends from the community who come back every year to enjoy a fun round of golf and networking.
The Central City Optimist Club is an Equal Opportunity Civic Organization. Our club is among the very diverse and has provided many female leaders to the South Carolina District.
